NUMBER PLATE WARRANTY

Last Updated: 28 September 2026

Our manufacturing-defect warranty applies to new orders and is separate from your statutory consumer rights.

1. OUR MANUFACTURING-DEFECT WARRANTY

The warranty period depends on the plate finish you choose:

Number Plate TypeManufacturing-Defect Warranty
Standard / Printed6 months
3D Gel6 months
4D6 months
5D12 months
Ghost12 months
Bevel12 months

For specialty shapes or configurations, the warranty period follows the finish selected.

The warranty starts from the date your plates are delivered or collected.

This warranty covers manufacturing defects in plates made by Plate-Maker. It does not replace or restrict your statutory consumer rights.

Important: A warranty period relates to manufacturing defects and is not, by itself, a statement that a particular plate design or finish is approved for road use.

2. WHAT DOES THE WARRANTY COVER?

Our manufacturing-defect warranty covers faults caused by problems with the materials or workmanship used to manufacture your plates.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

If you believe your plates have developed a manufacturing defect, please contact us so we can assess the issue.

Ordinary outdoor exposure is expected for number plates used on vehicles. However, premature fading, peeling or character detachment may indicate a manufacturing defect and will be assessed accordingly.

3. WHAT ISN'T COVERED?

The voluntary manufacturing-defect warranty does not normally cover damage resulting from:

These warranty exclusions do not remove or restrict your statutory rights.

If you are unsure whether an issue is covered, contact us and we will assess the circumstances.

4. WHAT IF I BOUGHT MY PLATES BEFORE THIS WARRANTY WAS UPDATED?

If you placed an earlier order and were sold a longer guarantee, that guarantee continues to apply to your order.

The current six- and twelve-month warranty periods do not retrospectively reduce a longer guarantee that was offered when you purchased your plates.

Please contact us with your order number if you need us to check the warranty applicable to an earlier order.

5. HOW TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM

If you believe your number plates have a manufacturing defect, contact our team as soon as you notice the problem.

Please provide:

Photos can help us assess the issue more quickly. If photographs are not practical, contact us and we can discuss another way of assessing the plate.

5.1 Contact Us

Please keep the affected plate while we assess your claim.

6. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU MAKE A CLAIM?

We will assess the reported fault and determine whether it appears to be a manufacturing defect covered by the warranty.

Where a manufacturing defect is covered, we will arrange an appropriate remedy. This may include remaking or replacing the affected plate, or another appropriate remedy where replacement is not possible.

We will explain the outcome of our assessment and the next steps.

7. YOUR STATUTORY CONSUMER RIGHTS

Our voluntary warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and does not replace them.

Your rights under applicable consumer law may provide remedies for faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods independently of the warranty period stated above.

The warranty period should therefore not be treated as a limit on your statutory consumer rights.

If you believe your plates are faulty, contact us even if you are unsure whether the issue falls within the voluntary warranty.

For more information about cancellations, returns and faulty goods, see our Terms & Conditions and Returns information.

8. NEED HELP WITH A FAULTY PLATE?

If something doesn't look right with your plates, we're here to help.

Contact us with your order number and details of the issue, and we'll assess the problem and explain the next steps.
