RETURNS & CANCELLATION

Last Updated: 30 September 2026

At Plate-Maker, our number plates are made to the registration and options you select when placing your order. This page explains when you can cancel an order, when personalised plates can be returned, and what happens if your plates are faulty, damaged or do not meet the contract.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this policy.

1. CANCELLING YOUR ORDER BEFORE PRODUCTION

You can cancel your order for a full refund at any time before production starts.

There is:

If you want to cancel, contact us as soon as possible so we can confirm whether production has started.

To request a cancellation, contact:

Once production has started, personalised plates cannot normally be cancelled simply because you have changed your mind.

This does not affect your statutory rights if the goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not meet the contract.

2. PERSONALISED NUMBER PLATES AND CHANGE-OF-MIND RETURNS

Our number plates are made to the registration and product options you select when ordering.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, the usual 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods made to a customer's specification.

This means that once production of your personalised number plates has started, you cannot normally return or cancel them simply because you have changed your mind.

However, our voluntary cancellation policy gives you an additional opportunity to cancel for a full refund at any time before production starts.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

3. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE PAYING

Before completing your order, please check:

You are responsible for checking that the information and options you provide are correct before placing the order.

We remain responsible for manufacturing the agreed product accurately and meeting our legal obligations.

If you believe we have manufactured your plates incorrectly, contact us so that we can investigate.

4. IF WE NEED TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER

In some circumstances, we may be unable to complete an order, for example where required checks cannot be completed or we cannot make or supply the plates for a reason on our side.

If we need to cancel an order for a reason on our side, we will refund the affected order or items as applicable.

We will contact you using the contact details provided with your order where necessary.

5. FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE NUMBER PLATES

Being personalised or made to order does not remove your statutory rights.

If your plates are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not meet the contract, you may have statutory remedies under consumer law.

Depending on the circumstances, these may include:

We will deal with faulty-goods claims in accordance with your statutory rights.

Our separate Number Plate Warranty also provides a voluntary manufacturing-defect warranty. The warranty does not replace or restrict your statutory rights.

6. DAMAGED PLATES OR DAMAGED ORDERS

If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Provide:

Photos are helpful when assessing damage, but they are not a requirement for you to have statutory rights.

Reporting damage later than 24 hours does not remove your statutory rights.

Please keep the plate and packaging while we assess the issue. We may ask you to return the plate if this is necessary to investigate the problem.

7. WHAT IF THE PLATE IS MADE TO THE DETAILS YOU ENTERED?

Please check your registration and options carefully before placing your order.

If the plate accurately matches the registration and options you entered, we may not be able to treat an incorrect entry as a manufacturing error.

However, this does not prevent you from contacting us if the plate has another problem, such as a manufacturing defect, damage or an issue with the product supplied.

We will assess the circumstances and advise you on the appropriate next step.

8. DAMAGE CAUSED AFTER DELIVERY

Our voluntary manufacturing-defect warranty does not cover damage caused by circumstances such as:

These warranty exclusions do not restrict your statutory consumer rights.

Ordinary outdoor exposure does not, by itself, exclude a genuine manufacturing-defect claim.

10. YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS

Nothing in this Returns & Cancellation Policy removes or limits any statutory consumer rights that apply to your purchase.

Where goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fail to meet the legal requirements applicable to the contract, your statutory remedies remain available even where a voluntary warranty or change-of-mind policy does not apply.

If there is a difference between this policy and a statutory right that applies to your purchase, the statutory right remains unaffected.
