1. Definitions and Interpretation

Private Number Plate Maker LTD operates as a DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier and must comply with all laws governing the manufacture of number plates in the UK. Customers acknowledge that non-compliance may result in penalties including fines and registration withdrawal.

2. Legal Obligations and Documentation Requirements

2.1 DVLA Compliance Requirements

We are legally required to verify your identity and your entitlement to the registration mark before producing any Road Legal Plates, under the Road Vehicles Regulations 2001.

2.2 Required Documentation

You must provide documents confirming your name, address and entitlement to the registration number. Some documents, including a passport or bank card, confirm your name only and need to be accompanied by acceptable address evidence. The current accepted-document list is available at https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/getting-number-plates-made-up. We must complete the required checks before supplying road-use plates.

By ordering Road Legal Plates, you confirm your legal entitlement to the registration mark. Providing false documents is a criminal offence under the Fraud Act 2006.

3. Show Plates and Off-Road Use

3.1 Definition and Restrictions

Show Plates are intended for off-road use only. Using them on public roads may result in fines, MOT failure, or vehicle seizure.

3.2 Customer Liability

Customers assume full liability for misuse. We accept no responsibility for legal penalties resulting from improper use.

3.3 Design Requirements

Show Plates may feature non-DVLA-compliant fonts or spacing. They will be labelled as"SHOW PLATE - NOT FOR ROAD USE".

4. Order Processing and Bespoke Products

4.1 Bespoke Nature

Plates personalised with your registration are normally exempt from the statutory 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right. We nevertheless offer a full refund if you cancel before production starts. This does not affect your rights where goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not meet the contract.

4.2 Order Accuracy

Please check your registration and chosen options carefully before ordering. You are responsible for the details you provide. We remain responsible for manufacturing the agreed product accurately and meeting our legal obligations.

4.3 Product Representation

Images on the website are illustrative and may vary slightly due to monitor and material differences.

4.4 Amendments

Amendments must be requested within 2 hours. Changes are not guaranteed and may incur costs.

4.5 Material Substitutions

We may substitute materials of equal or superior quality if required.

5. Quality Control and Warranty

5.1 Quality Assurance

All plates undergo thorough inspection before dispatch.

5.2 Warranty Coverage

Private Number Plate Maker Ltd provides a manufacturing-defect warranty from delivery or collection: six months for Standard, 3D Gel and 4D plates; twelve months for 5D, Ghost and Bevel plates. It covers manufacturing defects such as delamination and character detachment. If a defect is covered, we will arrange an appropriate repair, replacement or refund. Your statutory rights remain unaffected and may entitle you to a particular remedy. Orders sold with a longer guarantee retain that guarantee.

5.3 Warranty Exclusions

The voluntary warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect fitting, accidents, misuse, unsuitable cleaning chemicals or fair wear and tear. Ordinary outdoor exposure does not, by itself, exclude a claim. We will assess premature fading and other suspected defects on their facts. These exclusions do not restrict your statutory rights.

5.4 Warranty Claims

Contact info@plate-maker.co.uk with your order number and a description of the problem. Photos are helpful where available. Please keep the plate while we assess the claim. If a faulty plate needs to be returned, we will arrange or cover reasonable return costs. Please report problems promptly; there is no 24-hour deadline that removes your statutory rights.

6. Delivery, Returns and Refunds

6.1 Processing Times

Orders and required document checks completed before 2pm Monday–Friday qualify for same-day dispatch, excluding bank holidays. Dispatch is separate from delivery. For collection, contact us to confirm when your order will be ready before travelling.

6.2 Delivery Methods

Standard delivery is Royal Mail First Class: £3 for orders under £15 and free for orders of £15 or more. Royal Mail Tracked 24 costs an additional £2. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Your chosen delivery charge and order total are displayed before you place your order.

6.3 Returns Policy

Personalised plates do not normally qualify for change-of-mind returns. This does not affect your rights if goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not meet the contract. These rights include the applicable short-term right to reject, normally within 30 days, and subsequent repair, replacement, price-reduction or rejection remedies where the law provides them. 6.4 Accessory Returns

Eligible non-personalised goods bought online have a separate statutory cancellation right. Normally, you must notify us within 14 days after receiving them and return them within a further 14 days. Contact info@plate-maker.co.uk to arrange a return. We will explain the return procedure and any applicable return costs. Your faulty-goods rights are unaffected.

6.5 Cancellation Policy

You can cancel for a full refund at any time before production starts. No cancellation or administration fee applies. Once production has started, personalised plates cannot normally be cancelled for a change of mind. This does not affect your statutory rights. 6.6 Damaged Goods

If your order arrives damaged, contact info@plate-maker.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and details of the damage. Photos are helpful where available. Reporting later than 24 hours does not remove your statutory rights.

7. Legal Compliance and Customer Responsibilities

7.1 DVLA Regulations

Customers must use plates lawfully. Misuse may result in penalties, MOT failure, or prosecution.

7.3 Age Restrictions

Customers must be at least 18 years old.

8. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

9. Intellectual Property and Copyright

9.1 Website Content

All website content is protected. Reproduction is prohibited.

9.2 Registration Mark Rights

Registration marks remain property of the DVLA.

10. General Provisions

10.1 Force Majeure

If an event outside our reasonable control delays your order, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to reduce the delay. Your statutory cancellation and refund rights for non-delivery remain unaffected.

10.2 Governing Law

These terms follow the laws of England and Wales.

10.3 Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use means acceptance.

10.4 Severability

Invalid provisions do not affect remaining terms.

10.5 Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Private Number Plate Maker LTD.
